Making Decisions After A Life-Changing Event

A buddy got laid off
from the company
she’d been employed at
for over 15 years.

She told me
the day after that announcement
she was starting a business.

Had she been working on
starting this business
before being laid off?

No.
Not at all.

But it is a dream of hers.

Dreams are great.
Starting a business is great.

Making decisions
immediately after
a life-changing event
is not great.

No one thinks clearly then.
There’s panic and grief and anger.
All these emotions can cloud
decision making.

Wait
for a week
after major life-changes,
if you can,
before making any big decisions.

Try It Before You Need It To Work

I started gardening
because I know food shortages
are coming
and anything I can do to help
will…help.

I started gardening NOW
because I also know
it often takes multiple tries
to get something to work.

I don’t want to be
learning
how to garden
and making those dumba$$ mistakes
when I desperately need
the garden to produce food.

You might not need
the income from a small business
now
but start now.

Because you WILL make
dumba$$ mistakes
and it WILL likely take
multiple tries
to get your product/service right.

Give yourself that time
before you desperately need
the income from the business.

The Best Time To Start A Business

The best time
to start a business
is now.

This was true
and it is especially true
today.

Why is it especially true today?

Because climate change
and other issues
are making
doing…well…anything
tougher and tougher.

Resources will become
more and more limited.

We need resources
to start businesses.

And because we know
today we’re well enough,
strong enough,
passionate enough.
alive enough
to start a business.

That might not be true
tomorrow.

If starting a business
is a dream of yours,
start working on that dream
today.

Starting A Business Has Always Been Hard

Starting a business
in today’s
pandemic, climate change,
and
fascist
stricken world
is
admittedly a challenge.

But starting a business
has NEVER been easy.

In one of my niches,
I started
before there was
a market for the niche.
I started with
a couple readers (customers)
and the same number
of competitors.

I would approach readers
one by one
in other niches
and sell them
on my niche
and my books.

Today,
the challenge is
the market for the niche
is TOO crowded.

But the market also
has quite a few readers (customers).
And I no longer have to convince
prospects
that the niche is worth trying.

Don’t allow
the challenges
of today’s business environment
to stop you
from making your dreams
a reality.

They CAN be overcome.
As different challenges
have been overcome
by others
in the past.
