I’m in my mid 40s.
I like to believe I’m current
with technology
and language
and other aspects of life.
I’m not.
I have recently partnered
with a teen
on a project.
Even her approach
to technology is different.
I don’t tell her
how to do things.
I present the problem
I need solved
and ask her
how she’d approach it.
This tactic ensures
we both learn.
I learn how her generation,
my future customers,
think,
and
discover tools she takes for granted
and I didn’t know existed.
She learns from my experience.
If she’s stuck,
I give her ideas.
If I don’t think
her method will work,
I’ll express my concerns.
But otherwise,
I watch and listen.
If you’re older,
consider adding a teen
or 20-something
to your project team.
If you’re a teen
or 20-something,
considering adding
an older person.
Learn from other generations.
