Warning Is Caring

Most people don’t want to
be warned
about issues or danger.

They don’t like being warned
and they hate the warner
for warning them.

I know this
and I’ve reached
the stage of my life
where I keep my warnings
to myself
…mostly.

As long as it doesn’t
directly impact me,
I let people
do dumbness.

If I warn you,
it means I care about you.

It means I’m willing
to risk
the hate
so you aren’t harmed.

View warnings
as an expression of caring.

Tell Me The Truth

There’s a debate
amongst scientists
about whether or not
they should tell people
the doomtastic truth
regarding what is happening
and what will soon happen.

I want the truth.

If I wanted to hear
placating lies,
I’d talk to a politician.

I reach out to experts
because I want to hear
their informed and honest opinions.

Especially since I plan
to verify those opinions
with my own observations.

We know the climate
and healthcare
and other areas are f*cked.
We have eyes and ears.
We can see that.

Don’t patronize us
with lies.
Tell us the truth.

Using Fear To Sell Products

Using fear to sell products
has been VERY effective
in the past.

People want to feel safe.

If they are scared,
they want to take action
and then tell themselves
they’ve eliminated that fear.

The issue today is…

Threats are all around us.

There are too many scary things
happening all at once
– multiple pandemics, fires, floods,
fascism, possible nuclear war,
even the possibility of alien attack.

It takes a lot
now
to scare people enough
for them to take action
on the specific fear
being used to sell products.

And many people
are becoming angry
with the people
trying to scare them.

Be very, very careful
when using fear
to sell products.

It might have been
effective
in the past.

But the present
is a completely different
situation.

Lying About Bad News

Climate reality is
currently
bad
and it is predicted
to become much worse.

There’s a never-ending conversation
in the climate change spheres
about whether or not
reality is too bad
for people to handle
and debating if scientists should try
to ‘soften’ it
with…well…happy lies.

This is so f*ckin’ patronizing.
And unhelpful.

I’m building businesses.
I want to build them
based on reality,
not some ‘softened’
i.e. falsified predictions.

I’ve had to dig
into the stats
because I can’t trust
the people deciphering the stats
to tell the whole truth.

Don’t lie about bad news.
You don’t have to volunteer
the truth
if doing that will hurt you
and others.
But don’t lie about it.
