Issues On Repeat

You will hear
me mention
both the pandemic
and
climate change
often
here on client k.

There’s a reason for this
– climate change
and the pandemic
will drastically shift
how you and I do business
and how we build businesses.

Neither COVID
nor climate change
are over.
And they likely won’t be ‘over’
in our lifetimes.

Because,
buckle up, beyotches,
we’ve merely started
to see
the impacts
of both of these issues.

Will all the impacts
be negative?

No.
There will be opportunities
created for nimble business builders.

But there WILL be impacts
and I’d be doing a sh*tty job
if I didn’t mention
what those impacts
might be.

COVID and climate change
will alter business
going forward.

Stay informed.

There Are Endless Opportunities

These are admittedly dark times.

We’re still in the middle
of the COVID pandemic.
There are possible
new pandemics (Bird Flu, Marlburg, etc)
on the horizon.
Nuclear war is becoming
increasingly possible.
Climate change is kicking
our a$$es.
Fascism is on the rise.
There are countless other issues.

But the opportunities
are also endless.

Heck, some of the darkness
brings with it
opportunities.

A buddy is an event planner
specializing in
accessible and pandemic-safe
events.
She is hiring more staff.

Another buddy
sources now-hard-to-find supplies.
She is considering hiring
more staff also.

There are opportunities
EVERYWHERE.
Look for them.

Career Security Thanks To COVID

Yesterday, I talked about
how humans are getting
dumber
due to repeated bouts
of COVID.

If you avoid COVID
as much as possible,
that means
you will likely have
career security.

There will be
fewer and fewer people
available to work,
especially in
thinking-intensive jobs.

You don’t have
to worry as much
about aging out
of your industry
or
taking some time off
or
being your unique self.

In the future.

In the short term,
business is only beginning
to figure out
repeated infections
are a bad idea.

But the probability is high
that by this time
next year,
people with fully functioning
ie. COVID-avoiding
brains
will be in demand
as employees.

Protect your brain.
Avoid COVID.

The World Is Getting Dumber

I try to speak truths
here on client k.

Sometimes these truths
are brutal
and not at all politically correct
to talk about.

Here’s one of those brutal truths
– the world is getting dumber.

Every bout of COVID
damages the brain.

I’ve had one bout
of COVID
and I’m definitely dumber
than I was
prior to that infection.

A friend
has had four bouts.
She’s now incapable
of holding a coherent conversation.

She believes she’s making sense.
But she can’t remember
half the words
and can’t hold a thought together.

The child of a friend
asked me what she should do now
to increase the odds
of
getting a well paying job
in the future.

I told her
to avoid getting COVID.

If she does that,
she might end up
running the country.
She’ll be viewed
as a f*ckin’ genius.

The world is getting dumber.
Simply not getting dumber
will give you
a strategic advantage.

Wear a mask.
Social distance.
Install an air purifier
next to your work station.

Protect your brain.
And possibly rule the world.

Beauty And Safety

One of my social media friends
loves the KN95 masks
offered by KAZE.

They’re absolutely beautiful,
come in a variety of colors
and…
they help protect her
from COVID, RSV,
Bird Flu
and the other sh*t
floating around.

She can be fashionable
AND safe.

KAZE is a business
that boomed
during the pandemic.

What other people
saw as a medical necessity
the founders of KAZE
saw as potential luxury good.

There are plenty
of products
we don’t yet know
we need.

Supply one of them.

Say Your Name

I always answer the phone
with my name.
“Good morning.
This is X speaking.”

I do this
for a number of reasons.

I often share phone numbers
and it is arrogant of me
to assume
everyone will recognize my voice.

I’m terrible
at recognizing voices,
especially as I don’t prefer
to communicate by phone.
Saying my name
is my attempt to prompt people
to tell me
who THEY are.

Repeating my name
also increases the odds
people will remember it
and remember me.
It is a marketing tactic.

And in these pandemic times,
many people are…confused.
Always answering the phone
in a similar way
and using my name
as I do this
helps them remember
why they called me.

It makes the caller
more comfortable.

Consider answering the phone
using your name
and/or your company’s name.

How To Close Deals And Keep Projects On Schedule

A top salesperson
I know
contacts prospects
at least once a day
while
he is pushing a deal forward.

THIS is how
he closes deals.
He makes contact every day
and ensures
his deal is top of mind
for the prospect.

I contact key people
every day
while I’m managing projects
also.
If I don’t ‘sit on them’,
nothing is done.

This is especially true
now,
when SO many people
are dealing with
COVID brain.
Their memories are sh*t.
They are scattered.
They need someone
to keep them focused.

That someone is us.

Contact prospects,
customers,
key partners
every d@mn day.

Time Sensitive Tasks First

A close contact had COVID.

I knew I would soon catch it
(for the second time – sigh)
so I organized my list of
must-complete tasks
by due date
and completed them
as quickly as possible.

I was fortunate
because I knew about
the close contact catching COVID.

But we should be now
organizing our tasks
this way ALL the time.

Because this is
the f*cked up world
we’re currently living in.

Any of us
could catch COVID
tomorrow
and be horribly ill
for two weeks,
four weeks.
forever.

Organize your essential tasks
by due date
and then
get ‘er done!

Is The Expiry Date Still Applicable?

A company was giving away
hundreds of at home COVID PCR tests
for free
because they were past
the expiry date.

A loved one knew
many of the expiry dates
had been extended.
He ensured these had been extended
and picked up the COVID test kits.

Expiry dates can be
VERY real.
If you eat the product
after the expiry date,
you might become seriously ill.

But many expiry dates
are flexible.

They might be the date
the manufacturers
guarantee the vitamin content
is valid by, for example.

Or they might be a marketing tactic,
such as
in the case of
Twinkies
and many canned goods,
which don’t truly have
ANY expiry date.

Check the REAL expiry date
before tossing items
(especially those pricy
COVID test kits).

A Lot Of People Experience This

An online friend
had black hairy tongue.

She was told
that ‘a lot of people’
get it after a COVID infection.

What she WASN’T told
was ‘a lot of people’
had died
after having those symptoms.

She brushed off
the advice to go
to the hospital.

And she died within a week.
(Mask up, friends.
This d@mn pandemic
isn’t over.)

Hearing ‘a lot of people’
or
‘a lot of businesses’
experience something
doesn’t mean
it ends well for
those people/businesses.

All it means
is there is likely
a lot of research
already completed on
your experience.

Study that research.
Take your situation
seriously.
And please mask
the f*ck up.
