“I have been searching
for a question that hasn’t been asked
and have finally found one.”
At least once a day,
a post begins like that
in a huge writing group.
The person posting
knows that asking a question
will bring him
(and in the last 10 cases,
it WAS a him)
to the attention of
group members
and the very influential group leader.
So he searches for a question to ask.
He doesn’t care about
the answer to the question.
That’s not important to him.
Neither is the time
of the rest of the members.
He’s willing to waste
their precious time
if it gets him the attention he craves.
Don’t ask a question
merely to ask a question.
It irritates the people
you are likely trying to impress.
