The good news is…
in today’s world,
it is very easy
to start fresh,
to begin again
with a blank slate.
The bad news is…
in today’s world,
it is very easy
to start fresh.
It can become an addiction,
an ‘easy way out.’
A writing buddy of mine
is launching her eighth pen name.
She launches a pen name
with a new set of stories.
If it flops,
she’ll abandon it
and start again
with a new pen name.
At first,
she’d give each pen name
a few years.
Now,
she abandons a pen name
if she has a month or two
of bad sales.
We ALL have bad sales months.
August, for example,
is deadly for Romance Novel sales.
If I gave up every time
I had a bad sales month,
I’d never build a lasting brand
…which is, of course,
what is happening to her.
Starting fresh is always an option.
Don’t make it the default option,
however.
Fight for your business/brand.
