Cancelling Without Notice

This past Friday,
TV networks announced
which shows would be renewed
and which shows would be cancelled.

They didn’t give the people
producing these shows
any notice
so most of the shows will end
in the middle of their stories,
some in cliffhangers.
There will be no satisfying conclusions
for viewers.

Viewers will be upset
their favorite shows
are being cancelled
and they’ll be upset
they won’t have conclusions
to these shows.

In the past,
there was no need
for TV networks to care.
They had plenty of viewers.

Today, there are more sources
of entertainment
for people.
Angry viewers might never come back
to network TV.

The Romance Novel business
faces the same situation.
Cancelling a series angers readers.
Angry readers seldom return
to reading that writer.

I suspect your industry is the same way.

Think before you cancel a product or service
without giving customers notice
or a satisfactory alternative.
