Women And Computers

There’s a persisting belief
that women are bad
at computing,
both
programming
and
hardware.

This is why
events like Women’s History Month
are important.

The first computer programmer
was a woman
(Ada Lovelace).
The inventor of the first compiler
was a woman
(Rear Admiral Grace Brewster Murray Hopper).
The programmers
of the first digital computer
for the US Army
were women.

If anything,
women should be
BETTER at computing
than men.
This is OUR field.

Stereotypes
tend to fall apart
when faced with historical truth.

Knowledge of history
is powerful.
