New entrepreneurs
are often told
to craft a mission statement,
something that tells the world
what type of business
we are building.
Walmart’s mission statement,
for example,
is
“Saving people money
so they can live better.”
The mission statement is meant
to be shown to the world,
which
means it is mostly bullsh*t.
I doubt Walmart execs
give a crap about people living better.
What does that even mean?
Sure, spend a few moments
and craft a mission statement
but spend MORE time
defining other aspects of your business
like what your competitive advantage is,
what your pricing strategy will be,
your target market,
etc.
There are more important things
than having a mission statement.
