Selling Engagement

Much of my marketing
is done
via Facebook.

I can’t count on
Facebook
showing my posts
to readers (prospects).

This is why
I focus on shares.
I design my posts
so they are most likely
to be shared
by the few readers
who see them.

That expands their reach
and ironically,
encourages Facebook
to show the posts
to more people.

“Now nearly every social network
has an algorithm for their home feed
that only shows posts
that the algorithm deems worthy.

Many of these social networks
use “engagement”
(clicks, comments
and other forms of expression)
as a positive signal to their algorithms.
For example,
an Instagram spokesperson
told Business Insider in 2016
that there were “dozens” of factors,
but that likes, comments and shares
were certainly important.”

Consider focusing on
engagement
with your social media marketing.
