Free Delivery

I always send flowers to my mom
from a small florist
down the block from her apartment.
I normally pay delivery for these flowers
which irks me
as it is walking distance.

Years later,
they’ve realized that
only locals receive flowers from them.
They’ve dropped the delivery charge.
They’re using free delivery
as a selling point.

It works.
I’m happy.
I’ve told my mom about the free delivery
and she’s told all her friends
(who also receive flowers
from their out-of-town children).

If you’re a local business,
act like a local business.
Don’t charge your neighbors
for delivery.
