You Can’t Solve A Problem If You Don’t Talk About That Problem

If you run a business
that involves
partnering with people,
employing people,
selling to people,
COVID is,
right now,
a big f*cking problem
for you.

You and I likely don’t know
how big of a problem
it is
for us.

That drop in sales?
It is likely COVID-related.
That slow turnaround time?
It is likely COVID-related.
That demand for increased wages?
That is DEFINITELY COVID-related.

And the problem of COVID
isn’t getting solved quickly.

Why?

Because no one
is talking openly about the problem.
Many people
are pretending it doesn’t exist.

And that doesn’t
lead to any f*ckin’ solutions.

If you want
problems to be solved,
start
by talking about them.

Inspired By Irritations

Did something irritate
the f*ck out of you
today?

Are you not alone
regarding that irritation?

If the answer to
both these questions is
yes,
that’s AWESOME news.

Eliminating that irritation
could be
a great idea
for a business.

My most successful
and bestselling stories
have been the stories
that fill a gap
that bothers me.

Maybe a certain type
of character’s story
is missing.
Or a concept isn’t explained.

I ‘solve’ that problem
for myself
and others.
And I get paid
to do that.

Use the things
that irritate you
as inspiration
for your next product or service.

Banning A Result Isn’t Leadership

A manager told a friend
he will no longer
tolerate her
arriving at the office
after 8 am.

She now lies to him,
telling him
she WAS in the office.
She was merely in a meeting
or picking up supplies
or he must have missed her.

His ‘solution’
didn’t solve the problem.
It made the situation worse.

My friend still has to drop
her child off
at childcare no earlier
than 7:30 am,
which makes getting to the office
by 8 am impossible.

But now, she is forced
to sneak around
and lie about it.

If we’re not
addressing the true problem,
we’re merely making
the situation worse.

Banning a result
isn’t leadership.
Look at why
something is happening.
