Small Steps Count

A loved one has started
an exercise program.
He does 10 minutes of walking
every day.

He counts ALL walking.
If he walks to the bathroom,
he counts that as part
of his 10 minutes.

And that’s okay.
Because he is still
doing more walking
than he did
before tracking it.

Small steps count.
They add up.
They still take us
toward our goals.

Complete a small task
for your business startup today.

Decide on a font color.
Talk to someone
in your target market.
Research sources
for supplies.

Do something
to move you closer
to your goals.

Know Your Pitfalls

A loved one
is easily distracted.

When he’s working
on an important project,
he doesn’t watch
self improvement videos.

Why?

Because self improvement videos
list things to do
to improve ourselves.

Those lists are distractions.

And he knows
he has to focus
on his project.

We all have
pitfalls,
‘traps’ that distract or prevent us
from achieving our goals.

These could be
commercials for all you can eat buffets
when we’re trying to get healthy
or calls from an auntie
who always makes us feel bad
about ourselves
when we’re trying to
make a positive change
or a trip to a charity shop
when we’re trying to declutter
or other events.

Know your pitfalls
and avoid them.

How Often To Check Results

A loved one is losing weight.

She checks her weight
every day.

The trend is definitely down.
Most days, her weight decreases.

But on the rare days
it increases ever-so-slightly,
she loses all motivation
and is tempted
to give up.

I advised
that she check her weight
once a week,
instead of daily.

THAT number has always
been lower week after week.
She’ll stay motivated
and happy about her progress.

WHEN we check the results
can be key
to our project’s success.

If we only see progress
after a month,
check the results
after a month.

Time it correctly.

Managing Projects And Communication

We had an outside project manager
for our solar project.

He sucked great big donkey b@lls.

He was terrible at scheduling
and time management.
But we would have been
okay with that
if he had communicated
the changes in scheduling.

He told us
work would start
on X day.

On X day,
we cleared our schedules
and waited around the site
for the team to arrive.

They never arrived.
The start day had been pushed back
yet again
and the project manager
didn’t inform us.

Communication is a HUGE part
of project management.

Aligning everyone
is often 90%
of the project manager role.

The right people have to be
in the right places
completing the right tasks
at the right time.

Ensure you communicate well
and often.

Your Goals ARE Important

The world is a f*cked up place
right now.

There’s talk of a world war.
The pandemic continues to disable
or kill
people around us.
There are fires and floods
and a gazillion other things
happening.

What is the point
of building our businesses?
Do those goals and other goals matter?

Yes, they matter.
They matter to US.

We’re building businesses
and working toward our goals
because that’s important to us.

That’s one of the ways we’re changing
the world for the better.

And we have some control
over
the building of our businesses
and the achieving of our goals.

We have very little control
over
the other sh*t that’s happening
in this world.

Your goals ARE important.
Allocate time and energy and other resources
to achieving them.

2024 Goal/Resolution Reminder

It is February 20th.
We’re approaching
the end of this short month.

Take action on
at least one
of your 2024 goals or resolutions.

The action can be big
or it can be small.

The important thing
is progression.

You’re moving toward
a goal that is important to you.

Take action on
a 2024 today.

Take Action On 2024 Goals And Resolutions

It is January 31st,
the last day
of the first month
of 2024.

Take action on
your 2024 goals/resolutions.

You don’t have to complete
any of them
today.
Merely take an additional step.

Decide on a font
for your packaging.
Make a phone call.
Uncover what type of breakfast
your target market eats.

If you feel good
after taking that small step,
consider taking another small step.

If you don’t feel good,
stop for today.
You can take another small step
tomorrow.

Take action on your goals
today.
Finish the month strong.

Take A Break

I am on a VERY tight deadline
and have been working
VERY long hours.

But every couple of hours,
I’ll take 5 or 10 minutes
and I’ll walk around the backyard
or I’ll watch a short video
or I’ll close my eyes for a bit
and dream
or do something fun
just for me.

Because we can’t work
full out
for long periods
of time.

We’ll burn out
and then we won’t be completing
ANY projects.

We NEED breaks.
We NEED fun.
We NEED a reminder
of why we’re working so hard.

Take a break.
You’ll work better
for it.
