I’ve exchanged emails
with thousands of readers.
At least 50% of them
have replied to me
after the conversation
was clearly over.
I suspect there are
two possible reasons for this
– either they are lonely
or it is important
for them to have the last word.
If they ask
a question in their reply,
I assume they’re lonely
and I will respond to them.
If they don’t ask a question,
I assume they
need to have the last word.
I don’t usually respond to them.
Allow others to have
the last word
if that is important to them.
View it as a gift
to the other person,
one that doesn’t cost anything
to give
and might make them happy.
