Having Help Saying No

Doers do.
Sometimes we do
too much.

A loved one
recently took on too much.
He was considering
taking on yet another task
(to help someone else).

He ran this possibility
by me.
I said no.
I told him
he already had too many tasks
to complete.

He told the person
he couldn’t take on the task,
citing that he was told
he couldn’t do that.

He didn’t say
WHO told him
he couldn’t do that.
And he didn’t say
why he was told no.

The blame was deflected
to the unknown person.
His relationship
with the favor asker
was undamaged.

Sometimes we need help
saying no.
Enlist that help.

Put Memory Prompting Systems In Place Now

A loved one
is getting to the age
where she forgets a lot of things.

This is extremely
distressing to her.

I suggested she maintain
a to do list.

She told me
she tried that.

The issue was…
she always forgot
to craft the to do list.

In contrast,
I’ve had a to do list
since I was a child.

I don’t feel right
if I don’t have one.

I doubt I’ll ever forget
to craft a to do list.

Put your memory prompting systems
in place NOW,
long before you ever need them

Create and maintain
those habits.

We’re business builders.
We’ll likely build businesses
and manage projects
until we’re dead.

Set up systems
now
to make that easier.

There’s Little Upside To Becoming Ill

One of my dumba$$ friends
told me
he planned to intentionally
get measles
so he could build his immunity up.

Measles is a BAD disease.
There’s a risk of dying,
of going blind,
of being ill for the rest
of our lives.

And it makes people VERY ill
in the short run.

Who the f*ck has time for that?

I’ve got sh*t to do.
Give me a vaccine shot
and let me get back to work.

There’s very little upside
to becoming ill.
There’s a f*ckload of downside.
Including death.

And being ill sucks
valuable time
we could use to build businesses
and change the world.

Take a hard pass
on intentionally infecting yourself.

Your Goals ARE Important

The world is a f*cked up place
right now.

There’s talk of a world war.
The pandemic continues to disable
or kill
people around us.
There are fires and floods
and a gazillion other things
happening.

What is the point
of building our businesses?
Do those goals and other goals matter?

Yes, they matter.
They matter to US.

We’re building businesses
and working toward our goals
because that’s important to us.

That’s one of the ways we’re changing
the world for the better.

And we have some control
over
the building of our businesses
and the achieving of our goals.

We have very little control
over
the other sh*t that’s happening
in this world.

Your goals ARE important.
Allocate time and energy and other resources
to achieving them.

2024 Goal/Resolution Reminder

It is February 20th.
We’re approaching
the end of this short month.

Take action on
at least one
of your 2024 goals or resolutions.

The action can be big
or it can be small.

The important thing
is progression.

You’re moving toward
a goal that is important to you.

Take action on
a 2024 today.

Take Action On 2024 Goals And Resolutions

It is January 31st,
the last day
of the first month
of 2024.

Take action on
your 2024 goals/resolutions.

You don’t have to complete
any of them
today.
Merely take an additional step.

Decide on a font
for your packaging.
Make a phone call.
Uncover what type of breakfast
your target market eats.

If you feel good
after taking that small step,
consider taking another small step.

If you don’t feel good,
stop for today.
You can take another small step
tomorrow.

Take action on your goals
today.
Finish the month strong.

The Benefit Of Seeing It Everyday

I’m often asked
why I use print calendars
to track some project tasks.

I use print calendars
because most of my tasks
are done on the screen
and it takes additional minutes
to switch
between screens.

It also gives me
a quick visual
of how that project
is progressing.

I always have the information
on the printed calendar
in front of me.

It is like putting
a post-it note
on the edge of my screen.
It is a constant reminder,
one I see every day.

That’s powerful.

Never underestimate
the power
of seeing something everyday.

Complete A Small Goal Today

I’ve talked about the value
of putting small goals
and fun goals
on our list of goals
to complete
in 2024.

Today, complete
one of the small goals.

That will ensure,
on Day 1,
that
2024 is a success
for you.

No matter what else happens,
you’ve completed one of your goals.
You’ll always have that knowledge.

And you will start the new year
on an emotional high.
It will give you
the confidence
and the motivation
you need
to complete the next goal.

Complete a small goal today.

Focus On One

The holiday season
can be hectic.
It can overwhelm
many business builders.

When I’m overwhelmed,
I focus
on one thing.

I focus on one task,
one customer,
one project.

When that one thing is tackled,
I celebrate that win.

I then tackle
the next task,
the next customer,
the next project.

Until I feel capable
of tackling multiple issues
at once.

Getting sh*t done,
even if it is one small thing,
calms me.
That win
rebuilds my confidence.

Which allows me to
tackle other sh*t.

Focus on one.

What Motivates You?

When my surroundings
become a little too cluttered,
I watch an episode of Hoarders.

That motivates me
to get rid of items
I no longer need
or want.

Before working on
my next story,
I often reread a story
I absolutely love.

That motivates
me to write.

Much of success in life
is figuring out
how our unique brains work
and
what motivates us.

Pay attention
to how you feel
and what you feel
driven to accomplish
after doing or watching or reading
certain things.

Use these motivators
to get sh*t done.
