A reviewer contacted me,
raving about one of my books,
saying it was
the best book she’d read
over the past year.
She gave that book
a 3.5 out of 5 rating.
I won’t be sending her
my next book
to review.
There are some people
who never express approval.
We will never truly
make them happy
because they will never
allow themselves
to express happiness.
I ignore their feedback.
Seth Godin
has a different approach.
“…sometimes,
despite the futility,
we work to please them
anyway.
Because that can be
a compass.
It can help us
do the work
that will satisfy others (or ourselves).
It can also be a trap,
an endless treadmill
of disappointment
that leads nowhere
in particular.”
There are some people
who will never express happiness
or approval.
Don’t expect that from them.
You won’t receive it.
