Yesterday,
I talked about
how some writers
wouldn’t ask
the question
they wanted
to know the answer to
– How or IF
I’m selling books
without using Facebook.
It isn’t right
to talk about that question
without talking about
the answer.
Sales HAVE decreased
since Facebook deactivated
my account.
That could be
the summer slump.
It could be
because one of my current series
doesn’t have a large readership.
It could be
due to not being on Facebook.
I am still selling
a healthy number of units
a month.
How am I doing that?
Sampling plays
a huge part.
The first books in my series
are free.
Readers try that first book
and a portion of them
are hooked on the series.
A newsletter that I own
and can control
is the other large component.
Facebook or another entity
can’t take that subscriber list
away from me
(I download it every month
so I will always
have access to it.)
I have other tactics
(like paid placement in newsletters,
Amazon ads, etc)
but those two marketing tactics
are responsible for
80% of my sales.
That’s how I’ve been selling books
without Facebook.
Other writers,
also kicked off Facebook,
have other tactics.
It IS possible.
