I often hear the question asked
– WHEN should an area
re-open
during this crisis?
The easy answer
is…
when the goals
of closing the area
have been achieved.
Flattening the curve
is merely ONE of the goals
leaders should have.
Another equally important goal
is figuring out
the best practices
to reduce the transmission
of COVID-19
to workers
in essential businesses.
By learning
how to do THAT,
leaders can reduce
the transmission to workers
in non-essential businesses
when they re-open.
Yes, that means
experimenting on
this smaller group
but that is much safer
than experimenting on
everyone.
I do a variation of this
with my business
all the time.
I’ll test a different type
of email campaign
on a subset
of my newsletter subscribers,
not on all of them.
If it goes terribly wrong,
I haven’t damaged my relationship
with my core subscribers.
I’ll test a promotion
on a small group
of prospective readers,
not on all of them.
If it goes terribly wrong,
I haven’t offended
all of my readers.
Experiment on small groups,
not on ALL your customers
or prospects.
Mitigate the possible damage.
