The Romance Novel business
isn’t booming
during this crisis
but it also isn’t hurting.
My sales are solid.
I’m not seeing much drop
in income.
My cover artist,
on the other hand,
has been working
part time as a substitute teacher
to cover her bills
as she builds
her cover art business.
Schools are closed
in her area.
She no longer
has that income.
So I’ve asked her
to craft covers
for stories
that will release
far into the future.
When those covers are completed,
I’ll ask her to craft
some promo art
(which I would usually craft
myself),
some games,
and other art.
She’s skilled.
She knows my branding.
She needs the cash
to survive
and to be happy.
It is a win-win situation
for both of us.
Plus it is the right thing
to do.
I don’t want to prosper
when a partner is punishing.
If you have
the excess cash flow,
consider giving
cash-strapped partners
more work.
