Mistakes WILL Happen

We’re business builders.
We make a sh*t load
of decisions,
often daily.

Some of these decisions
will be wrong.

This is especially true
during times of crisis,
when so often
we’re faced with certain decisions
for the very first time.

We can reduce
the number of wrong decisions
by gathering the best information
available,
if that exists,
before we make them.

But the number of wrong decisions
will never be zero.
We’ll never have
all of the information
and the situation could change
a heartbeat
after we make the decision.

Some of these wrong decisions
will result
in the waste of resources,
the depletion of cash
and energy
and passion.

If we’re in certain fields,
making a wrong decision
could result in deaths.

Even with that dire consequence,
mistakes will still happen.

Realize that when you take leadership
and especially
when you delegate some of that leadership,
some of that decision making,
to others.

Mistakes WILL happen.
If you severely punish decision-makers,
including yourself,
every time a mistake happens,
they or you
will stop making decisions.

And that is often
a much BIGGER mistake.
