One of my writing buddies
often bellyaches
about how she’s not asked
to participate in writer group activities
like box sets and promos.
She claims it is
due to the stories
she writes.
I’m fine
with the stories
she writes
so I invited her
to participate
in a group promo
with me
and about 20 other writers.
Nope.
The reason
she isn’t asked
to participate
isn’t because
of the stories she writes.
She’s not asked
to participate
because
she’s a pain in the a$$.
She complained
about EVERYTHING.
She asked me
about 30 questions,
requested special treatment.
I am one person
and had an event to plan.
I didn’t have time
to deal with her.
Being a PITA
is much like
being ignorant.
You don’t usually
know you’re one.
But if you participate
once
in something
and are never asked
again
to participate,
you are likely a PITA.
Especially
if this happens
multiple times.
Oh and if someone
tells you
you’re being a PITA,
be thankful.
She is likely telling
the truth
and knowing that
might make the difference
between
success and failure.
Note:
Being a PITA
about the important things
is GOOD.
Be that way.
Stand up
for what you believe in.
Being a PITA
about trivial things,
however,
can be
extremely limiting.
