We All Benefit From The Placebo Effect

One of my pen names
is a USA Today Bestselling Author.

By simply smacking that label
on my covers,
I am more likely
to get good reviews.

Readers are more likely
to perceive my stories
as being well written
and professionally edited.

They ARE well written
and professionally edited
but not more well written
and professionally edited
than my works
under my other pen names,
my pen names
without the
USA Today Bestselling Author
label.

That label is a placebo.
It suggests a higher quality of writing
so readers SEE a higher quality of writing.

Seth Godin
shares

“…you can embrace the fact
that human beings
are 94% irrational,
making decisions based on
feelings, expectations and culture.
That none of us
are double-blind in real life.
That the placebo is
the most highly leveraged
and efficient way
you’ve got to help people
get to where they’re going.”

Placebos are powerful.
Consider using them.
