Ease Your Concerns

One of my fears
is running out of drinkable water.
That happened to me
temporarily
when I was a child
and it scared the sh*t
out of me.

I’ve worried about it
for decades.
That worrying has taken up
precious brain space
I could have used
to solve other problems.

This week,
I bought a small portable
filtration device.
It is good for
100,000 gallons.

It cost $20
and I doubt
I will ever use it.

If others knew
I bought it,
they would likely
ridicule me.

I don’t care.
It has been well worth
the investment.

I’m no longer worried
about running out of drinkable water.
That (irrational) weight has lifted
from my shoulders.

I can think about
other things now,
more constructive things
like changing the world
for the better.

If you can easily
ease one of your concerns,
do it.
