I tend to avoid sarcasm
in my stories.
If I DO use it,
I make it obvious
that it is sarcasm.
Why?
Because most people
are sh*tty
at detecting sarcasm.
Most people
will assume
my sarcastic character
is being serious.
They will give the book
bad reviews,
saying that character
doesn’t make sense.
“The problem with sarcasm
is that the level of displeasure
is hidden.
You might come across
as snarky
when you don’t mean to,
or,
the snarkiness
you were sending
might not land.”
Think before using sarcasm.
