One of my pen names
(brands)
emerged
because I wanted to experiment
with stories (products)
outside of my current pen name’s
core branding.
I wanted to try something risky,
something perhaps controversial
without damaging
the pen name
I had already established.
If this experiment failed,
it would have no effect
on my core brand,
on my core readers.
If this experiment was a success
(which it was),
I could either run both brands
separately
or I could combine the brands.
There was some added expense
and a fair bit of extra work
but there was little risk.
If you have an established successful brand
and you want to develop a product/service
without risking that brand,
consider using another brand name.
