Game Of Thrones And Going Viral

Game Of Thrones
is one of the biggest
TV shows of this decade.

It has definitely hit
viral status.
Commercials aren’t needed.
Fans are promoting it now.
And there’s peer pressure
around watching it,
FOMO or Fear Of Missing Out.

As someone in
the entertainment business,
I’ve been studying it,
trying to determine
why it has done so well.

One of the key reasons is
EVERY episode
has shocks or plot twists
or big reveals.
EVERY episode
gives viewers multiple things
to talk about,
has a reason for buzz.

There are no filler episodes
or waiting until the season finale
for big action.
GoT brings it every single time.

The story also builds.
Every episode makes
the episodes before it
fuller and more relevant,
which pushes rewatches.

Having a story build
is rare in books right now.
It is almost non-existent
with TV.

It requires a long view.
It requires patience
and faith in a work.
And many networks and publisher
don’t have any of these.

And, of course,
the product is quality.
The dragons are amazing.
The acting is solid.
The story is tight.

There are other reasons
but even these three core reasons
are d*mn hard to accomplish.

But someone did
and that means
we can too.
