A Freelancer Is Not A Business Builder

When I was transitioning
from corporate
to being a full time business builder,
I would freelance,
take contract gigs in business
to cover my costs.

I was paid per hour
and was able to choose
those hours
but I realized I wasn’t growing
a business
or building assets.
If I stopped working,
my contract income would stop also.

I utilized those funds
to stay alive
(grins)
but also to fund
the business I WAS building.

That business
(many business attempts
from then,
it is the Romance Novel Business)
would have the ability to earn money
when I wasn’t working.
It would have a life
of its own,
beyond me.

Seth Godin
shares

“Freelancers get paid
when they work.
We’re not focused on scale…
and we’re not tiny versions
of real entrepreneurs.
Freelancers do the work
for clients who need them.

Entrepreneurs,
on the other hand,
are organized for growth.
The job of the entrepreneur
isn’t to do the work,
it’s to build a company
that does the work.”

There’s nothing wrong
with being a freelancer
or a contract person
as long as you know
that’s who you are.

Business income can be earned
without you.
Freelancing income can’t.
