One of my pen names
(brands)
writes very sexy stories
(products).
A portion of the population
has made it their mission
to campaign against
the publishing of very sexy stories.
So I’ll receive 1 star reviews
saying the story is p*rn
and should be banned.
I don’t listen to those reviews
as those ‘readers’
are clearly not my target customers.
If those ‘readers’
contact me directly,
I tell them I appreciate their feedback
and I recommend writers
who write the type of stories
they might like.
I don’t change
what I write to please them.
I’m not writing very sexy stories
for people who don’t like
very sexy stories.
“We can acknowledge
that someone is upset,
we can see them,
respect them
and help them.
But we shouldn’t get confused
that there’s a correlation
between their
ALL CAPS EFFORT AT ATTENTION
and our agenda
to serve the people
we seek to serve.”
Before changing
to please a customer,
ask yourself
if she is a customer
you WANT.
If the answer is no,
she’s not your ideal customer,
disregard her input.
