Matching Marketing To Prospects

The hot marketing tool
book marketers are selling
to writers
is the podcast.
It is easy,
they say.
Customers like
putting a face to a business,
they say.

Except the ideal prospect
for a writer
is a reader
and most readers
are introverts.

One of the reasons
they pick up a book
is to avoid people.

Things like podcasts
are what they want
to escape from.

Twitter might seem
ideally suited
for writers.
It is usually text based.

Except if your ideal prospect
comes to you
for 400 page books,
she will likely be
more frustrated
than happy
with a short tweet.

(Tweets with a link
to an excerpt, etc,
can do VERY well,
however.)

Know your ideal market.
Find the best marketing venue
for them.
It might not be
the hottest one.
