Trying Things That Might Not Work

I have a routine
that is fairly successful
for new book releases
(product launches).

If I follow this routine,
I’ll have solid sales.

I want better
than solid sales.

So every once in a while,
I’ll try a new
routine.
These routines,
thus far,
have resulted
in worse sales
than the routine
I normally follow.

But the next new routine
might result in
BETTER sales.

And that’s why
I continue to experiment.

“The only way to learn
from experience
is to have different experiences.

The very nature
of an experiment
is that there’s a chance
you’re doing it wrong,
or at least less ‘right’
than the way you usually do it.”

To find something
that might work better,
you often
have to risk
trying something
that works worse.
