Worrying Vs Planning

A loved one is a master worrier.
She lists the worst case scenarios
and then she dwells on those results,
amplifying them
until she’s in a panic.

One of my skills is planning.
I also list the worst case scenarios.
But instead of dwelling on those results,
I put together plans
to minimize the risk
of those worst case scenarios.
Then I set it aside
and tackle the next task.

“You could make the choice
to actually work
to amplify your fear
of the negative outcome
instead of working
on the real problem.

But you can’t do both
at the same time.

Either you’re amplifying your worry
or you’re working
on a solution to the problem.”

If your worry is increasing,
it likely means
you haven’t been working
on a solution.

Concentrate on
figuring out
how to minimize your risk.
