I’ve NEVER read
a perfect book.
NEVER.
There’s always a typo
or a wrong word
or repeated sentence
somewhere in it.
And editing a book
until it is grammatically perfect
can edit the emotion,
the magic
right out of it.
My goal for my books (products)
is magic.
Does it make the reader laugh
or cry or feel?
That is ‘perfect enough’
for me.
“The thing is,
with limitless focus
and energy,
just about everything
can be improved.
That’s not the question.
The question is:
Is this thing you’re working on
as close to perfect
as it needs to be?
As close to perfect
as your customer demands?
As close to perfect
as the budget can allow?”
Perfect might be a goal
but it is one
you will likely never achieve
or WANT to achieve.
Stop when your product
is ‘perfect enough.’
