Loyalty Once Lost

We’ve talked often about
how loyalty has to be earned
here
on client k.

Sometimes, however,
we get lucky.
We hire extremely loyal people
or
we inherit them
from the previous leader.

Our task is then
much simpler.
All we have to do
is not f*ck it up.

We give them compensation
(like salary)
they can count on.
They are the first people
we pay if that’s the arrangement,
the people we ALWAYS pay
on time and with no decreases
in the amount.

We never embarrass them
in public.
Any reprimands are delivered
in private.
We never talk bad about them
or the tasks they are completing
in public.
If they f*ck up,
we take the blame.

They’re loyal to us.
We protect them.
That’s the unwritten deal.

We treat them
as the important people
they are.

Because if we f*ck up
and lose their loyalty,
we likely won’t ever gain it back.

And loyal people,
once betrayed,
will likely pledge their loyalty
to someone else.
That someone else
is unlikely to have our best interests
at heart.

Loyalty is rare.
It is valuable.
Protect it.
