Every once in a while,
Amazon will go on
a rampage
and ban reviewers
they feel
have “a personal connection
to the writer.”
Which makes me wonder
if Amazon truly understands
the Novel Writing Business
or ANY small business.
If a writer is doing her job
correctly,
EVERY reader feels
she has a personal connection
to her.
If a small business builder
is doing her job correctly,
EVERY customer has that
same close relationship feel
also.
That connection can give us
a competitive advantage.
Other businesses may be larger,
cheaper, faster,
but they don’t have the relationship
we have with those customers.
Almost half of the reviews
on my latest release
were addressed to me.
I’m happy with that.
I WANT readers (customers)
to feel they have
that close of a relationship
with me.
Even if Amazon doesn’t want that.
(I suspect Amazon doesn’t want that
because that would make us unique,
not-as-easily replaced.)
