When To Stop Developing A Product

More isn’t necessarily better,
especially in product development.

It’s possible
in the Romance Novel business,
for example,
to edit all of the magic
out of a book (product).

Emotion is often conveyed
by the rawness of a message,
the jagged edges.

Smoothing those edges
weakens the product.

Once a product attribute
(like a scene in a novel)
does what it should do,
makes the buyer feel
what she should feel,
I stop developing it.
I leave it the f*ck alone
and focus on other areas.

Perfect often isn’t best.
Consider stopping
before you reach that point.

(And if you insist on
working it more,
SAVE the information
re: the previous versions.)
