released,
most people didn’t realize
the important role
women played in the success
of the space program.
Movies released previously
didn’t mention their role at all.
Now that we know,
however,
many of us
are no longer accepting
of movies
like First Man
that return to not mentioning,
even in passing,
the part women played.
It would have been so easy,
basically one additional actress,
or one line of dialogue,
to mention their role
but the filmmakers didn’t recognize
the shift in their audience.
We now know.
We can’t go back
to not knowing.
