Good Is Good Enough For Some Things

I have at least one typo
in every book I publish.

I COULD eliminate every typo
but that would take time and effort,
time and effort my readers
wouldn’t appreciate.

A couple of typos don’t bother them,
as long as those typos aren’t distracting.

What readers REALLY want
is the emotion to be bang on.
I spend time and effort
ensuring THAT is perfect.

shares

“You can’t name someone
you befriended
because his eyeglass frames
were just the right shape,
or the last book you loved
because the cover was perfectly typeset.

For surface shine,
80% might be more than enough.
After that,
the tweaking is for us,
not those we seek to serve.”

Spend time and effort
on the aspects of your product/service
that are important to your customers.

For the other aspects,
good might be good enough.
