You Are A True Ally When…

Yesterday, I was telling
a loved one
about how wonderful it was
that men are starting to support women.

He told me,
“I support women.
I’m an ally.”

I asked him
how many women
have told him
they’ve been sexually abused.

His answer?
No one has done this.

My reply was
“Then you’re not a true ally.
You’re not someone
women truly trust.”

This test can be applied
to anyone.
I know women
other women don’t trust.
It isn’t only a male problem.

One in three women
have experienced sexual violence
(and I suspect that number is low).

If no one has confided in you,
there’s a reason
why they haven’t.

Why is this trust
important?

Half of the workforce
are women.
Half of consumers
are women.
People don’t work long
for people they don’t trust.
They don’t tend to buy
from people they don’t trust.

Be a person
women can trust.
