When I first started
writing romance novels
(developing that product),
I was cocky.
I had been reading
romance novels
most of my life.
I didn’t have to do
product research.
I knew what readers
(customers)
wanted
– a great happy ever ending,
that lovey dovey feeling
at the end of the book.
I was a jack a$$.
Readers EXPECT
a romantic happy ever after.
They are BUYING the book
for the cry,
for the soul crushing
dark moment,
the place in the book
where everything looks hopeless.
It is no coincidence
that my sales took off
with the same book
in which I mastered
this dark moment.
Readers cried
and they bought the next book.
Don’t assume you know
what your customer wants.
Do your research.
