Walk Up Vs Walk Out

Yesterday, students across the U.S.
walked out of class
for 17 minutes
to remember the 17 victims
of the Parkland shooting.

Some parents/teachers/adults
felt they should have walked up,
rather than walked out.
(Walking up is the (rather bizarre) idea
that kids can somehow heal mental illness
and stop school shootings
by merely talking to classmates.)

F*ck you, adults
and f*ck you, project team members,
who, the DAY of a project release,
say the movement/project
should have been launched
differently.

Every project manager
has these people on their team
or in their organization.

They don’t help.
They hurt…
deliberately.
They sabotage the efforts
of doers,
of people tackling the work.

I tend to call these people
on their bullsh*t.
I tell them publicly,
“Great.
Put together a project team.
Craft a proposal.
Present it on (this date).”

That usually silences them
because they aren’t interested
in doing.
They’re interested in stopping
progress.

You WILL have these people
on your team.
Learn how to deal with them.
