BTS has broken
a bunch of streaming records
including the most views
on YouTube in a 24 hour period
and
Spotify streams in a single day.
This didn’t happen
merely because
BTS had a lot of fans.
It happened because
those fans were organized
and motivated.
I witnessed some of the organization
behind this
on social media.
Fans were urged by organizers
to set aside that entire day,
and to stream constantly
on multiple devices.
There were competitions
between regions.
There were people with in depth knowledge
of how YouTube, Spotify
and other platforms worked.
There was a sh*t ton of effort
and knowledge
behind the effort.
It was a well-organized event
and not-at-all random.
They likely worked
for months on this project.
The project was successful.
They achieved their goals.
And they definitely have my respect
for managing a global project
involving thousands, likely millions of individuals.
Breaking a streaming record
is a huge project.
If that is your goal,
know that it will require time
and effort
and superior marketing
and management skills.
But it IS doable.
