Sharing Your Goals

In Canada,
leaders made it
very obvious
what the goals
of their COVID measures
– lockdown, mask wearing,
social distancing
– were.

The goal was
to delay the spread
of COVID
until a vaccine
was readily available.

They didn’t outright say that
but it was heavily implied
in almost every debrief.

Most Canadians
got the message.
They’ve been staying home,
wearing masks,
social distancing.
And they’ve been waiting
for the vaccine
we all know
the world’s brightest minds
will eventually develop.

Leaders of other countries
either didn’t have
this same goal
for their citizens
or they didn’t share it.

Their citizens
have been fighting
many of the COVID measures.
They believe they’ll have
to wear masks forever,
not merely for a short time.
They believe if they don’t send
their kids back to school,
they’ll NEVER go back to school,
not merely have remote learning
for a year or two
until the world is safe again.

THIS is why
it is often essential to share
your goals
with others.

You don’t have to go
into great detail,
the competition is always listening,
but you need to share enough of
your goals,
your business’ goals,
to stop the people on your team
from inadvertently working AGAINST them.
