A Goal We Can See

When I worked for
a major beverage company,
the CEO would stress
our one goal
– to have our product available
within a block of everyone.

Whenever we were at a location,
he would ask us
to step outside
and look for a store/restaurant/vending machine
that served our products.

If we could see one,
we accomplished our goal.
If we couldn’t see one,
we had more work to do.

We could SEE our goal.
We could touch it,
feel it,
drink it.

That was EXTREMELY powerful.

“If you’re seeking
to get things done,
looking for the attainable
but hidden opportunities
is a productive strategy.

On the other hand,
if you’re a leader,
seeking to inspire,
it helps to focus on
an iconic goal,
one that’s always present,
right over there.”

Can your employees
and partners
SEE your goal?

How can you make it
as real and as tangible
as possible
for them?
