We Need Competition

In the Romance Novel Industry,
we often host group promotions
like Facebook parties
or Newsletter contests.

A bunch of writers
in a particular niche
will gather their readers
at one event.

You would think
each writer would sell
less books
doing this.
We’re surrounded
by competitors.

Nope.
We sell MORE books
doing this.

The readers who attend
these events
are primed to buy books.
The excitement we, writers, have
for the niche
meshes with their enthusiasm.
They buy more books
than they expected to buy
(and they’re usually quite happy
about this).

“The biggest competitor
most marketers face is
“none.”
Inaction always has
the biggest market share of all.

The surprising solution
is to be surrounded by competition.
Because that changes
the question from,
“if?”
to
“which?””

Attend an event
frequented by your competition.

You might sell more
products/services
than you expect.
