The Long Term Plan Advantage

My Romance Novel business
IS a small business
with small funding.
I have cash flow concerns.
I need cash today
to pay for expenses tomorrow.

That means
I have short term goals.
Many of those short term goals
are similar to those
of millions of other writers.
I’m often competing with them
to complete these goals.

But I have very little competition
for my long term plans.
There are very few writers
who are focused on building
the type of world
I’m creating.

My short term goals
pay the bills
but they make me
like everyone else.

My long term plan
makes me unique.

Seth Godin
shares

“There’s always someone
who is more willing
to play the short-term game
than you are.

Someone who is willing
to cut more corners,
send a more urgent text,
borrow against the future,
ignore the side effects,
abuse trust
and corrupt the system
–somehow justifying
that short-term hustle
with a rationalization
(usually a selfish one)
about how urgent it is.

On the other hand…

There’s plenty of room
to win as someone
who takes a longer view
than the others.”

Your long term plan
could give you an advantage
…based on the mere fact
that very few of your competitors
likely have one.
