Unwritten Social Agreements

There are unwritten
social agreements
society operates by.

If you work for a company,
you expect to be compensated
for that work
in some way.

If you pay your mortgage
and your property taxes,
you expect to retain
ownership
of your house.

If you pay
for a product/service,
you expect to receive it.

If you do everything
a policeman says,
you expect
to remain alive.

These social agreements
are the only thing,
as we saw last week,
between
order and chaos.

Once we break
a social agreement,
ALL social agreements
are broken.

is WELL worth watching)

“…we have to agree
on core principles.

And those three principles,
if I remember correctly,
are
1) We have to agree on
what the principles are
2) We have to believe that
the people enforcing the principles
are going to enforce them fairly
and
3) We have to agree
everyone in that society
is going to be treated fairly
according to those principles.”

Look at the unwritten
social agreements
you have with your partners,
employees, customers.

Are you upholding
your part of it?
