Some hobby writers
are taking a break
from writing new stories.
They’re waiting
until the crisis is over
to be productive.
The issue with this is
the crisis might not
be over for years.
The recovery from it
will take more time.
And there will likely
be a new crisis
when this one is over.
I’m writing.
I’m working slower
than I usually do.
I’m taking
more
what I call
mental health breaks.
But I’m producing
and selling stories
(product).
“…at the same time,
due to the time-horizon
of the pandemic,
it’s also tempting for us
to simply wait.
To wait for things
to get back to normal.
But all the time
we’re spending waiting
(for a normal
that is unlikely to be
just like it was)
is time we’re not spending
learning,
leading
and connecting.
Waiting is,
sort of by definition,
a waste of time.
But time is scarce,
so wasting it
is a shameful act.”
Do what you need
to do
to keep yourself healthy
-mentally, physically, emotionally.
But don’t wait
for a tomorrow
that might contain
as much crisis
as today.
