I receive a gazillion messages
from self-proclaimed
publishers, agents, movie producers,
translators, etc.,
claiming to LOVE my books,
wanting to work with me.
They rarely use my pen name.
They seldom mention
my books’ titles.
I treat those as spam
and I don’t bother
replying to them.
Sometimes I’ll receive
a follow up email.
My name or titles are often not mentioned
in those messages either
so I treat those also as spam.
They might not be spam.
But the senders don’t have
the tech knowledge
to merge fields
or
they don’t care enough
to manually mention my name.
Why would I want
to work with someone like that?
If you genuinely want
to work with someone,
take the time
to personalize that first message.
At the very least,
mention their name.
