There was a thread
in a writers’ space
asking if writers
tipped
their cover artists.
Almost every writer
said
they didn’t.
Some of them
were OUTRAGED
that someone suggested
that.
I took a deep breath
and shared
that I profit share
with my cover artist.
I think if I do well,
my partners should
do well.
(The response was…
passionate.
The myth that writers
create ‘for the art’
is exactly that
– a myth.)
If your business is doing well
during this crisis
and that isn’t benefiting
partners who are fighting
to ensure your business
does well,
your relationship with them
will soon end
…bitterly.
They will be upset
and they should be.
You’re being a greedy a$$hole.
You’re also putting
everything you built
at risk.
Partners know
your sh*t.
They know much more
about you
than you likely think
they know.
Treat them well.
Set up your business
so the key people/partners
working to make it a success
benefit
from that success.
