A writer filed trademark applications
for a long list of commonly used words.
There was an uproar
over it.
She tweeted that
she was only doing this
so she had the ability
to protect HER brand.
Yet she didn’t withdraw
the trademark applications
to narrow the owned usage
of the words.
Which told me
she was full of sh*t.
She DOES plan
to restrict everyone else
from using those common words.
If someone’s actions
are sending a different message
than their words,
believe their actions.
That is what they truly
plan to do
and how they truly feel.
Actions DO speak louder
than words.
(Note: I realize
this advice is ironic
coming from a writer
but even in my stories,
the characters’ actions
tell the truth about their characters.)
